IT was gold all round for Woodford's athletes in the Essex Cross-Country Championships at Claybury Park.

Bernadine Pritchart won the women's race for Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies, with the race for men aged over 50 won by by Dave Cox.

The home side also took gold in the team race for men aged over 40, with Matt Flannelly, John Sear and Chris Brogan filling places two, three and four and John Wallis providing back up in an excellent eighth.

In the ladies event, Pritchart was followed across the line by Jennie Thomas in 22nd, Zuzanna Walker 28th and Sue Cord 36th, enough to give the womens team the silver medal.

The men's B team consisted of Ray Dzikowski 12th, Iain Cummings 15th, Ron Daniels 35th and Dave Barrett 37th.

The men's over 50 team were another side to pick up silver with Cox supported by Steve Herington 13th, Alistair Holford 16th and Trevor Powell 25th.

Star of the junior runners was Kavita Solder, who has struggled with a series of injuries including a broken bone in her foot only a year ago, taking gold in the race for women aged under 20.

The mens U20 side also took gold with Tom Phillips second, Angus Holford third, Craig Berg fourth and Andrew Mariani in 13th place. Kathrine Foy finished seventh in the girls' U17 race, followed by Jessica Docking tenth, Amelia Holford 13th and Katie Bitten 15th to give the team a silver medal.

Meanwhile rising star Anthony Oshodi ended the 2006 track and field season top of UK discus rankings for athletes U15 with a huge throw of 50.48m, leading the second best athlete by over four metres.

He also ranked second in the shot putt with 18.03m.
