Waltham Forest 1
Maldon Town 2
(Ryman Div One North)

FOREST suffered their first league defeat in two months as they fell to two late Maldon Town goals, writes Andrzej Perkins.

The visitors had the first chance on two minutes, when Yohance Lewis hit a swerving shot just past the post.

On the counter-attack, Danny Gabriel was taken down in the opposition half, but no free-kick was given.

Victor Renner felt his shot was blocked by a Maldon hand, but again the referee waved play on.

Forest had a string of good chances in the last five minutes of the half, but failed to capitalise - Gabriel forcing a fine save from Gould in the Maldon goal.

Six minutes after the interval, Gabriel was brought down by the keeper and the spot-kick was given.

Gabriel himself drilled the ball straight down the middle into the net.

Liam Baptiste almost doubled the lead on 56 minutes with a low swerving shot that went just wide.

Hughie Ashman had the visitors' first chance of the second half when his long shot was superbly stopped and held by Jason Willis.

But it was a sign of things to come, as Maldon pulled level on 80 minutes through a Leon Antone header and Sheridan Driver grabbed the points for Town in injury time.

Driver picked up a loose ball in midfield and finished calmly in a one-on-one with Willis.

Forest bounced back from their defeat on Tuesday with a hard-earned 2-2 draw away at highly-placed Enfield.

The visitors took the lead in the third minute when Gabriel was taken down on the edge of the area.

Renner stepped up and blasted the free-kick past former Stag Dan Anfossy in goal.

Enfield levelled midway through the second half from a poorly defended corner. Ryan Hall finished neatly into the roof of the net to regain the lead, but Forest's hard work was undone in the 90th minute when the hosts scored from another corner.

They travel to Potters Bar Town on Saturday.
