Chigwell School’s Under-14s girls’ hockey team will represent Essex in the regional finals next month after finishing as runners-up in the county tournament.
The girls topped their pool group after a 1-1 draw against Bancroft’s and 3-1 and 2-1 victories over Brentwood and New Hall respectively.
They then beat Coopers 3-1 on penalty strokes in the semi-final after the match ended 0-0 and lost 1-0 to Felsted in the final.
Miranda Weeks, Chigwell School’s head of girls’ games, said: “The work rate and effort from the girls was outstanding all day and they fully deserved their reward of a place at the regional finals.”
Weeks continued: “All season the Chigwell girls have trained hard and they were focused on delivering at the tournament.
“It was so pleasing to see them play to their potential and earn a spot representing the county at the regional finals.”
The regional finals will take place in Bedford on Tuesday, November 11.
