Wapping have closed the gap on league-leaders Harleston Magpies to just a point after a 2-0 win over Cambridge University on Saturday.
A bright start by Wapping was rewarded when, after just two minutes, James Fanger crossed for Phil Messent to fire home via the aid of a deflection.
The lead was doubled after 15 minutes when a short corner resulted in Rory Heaslip sending a drag flick beyond the visiting goalkeeper.
Wapping remained on top throughout and despite a brief flurry from Cambridge, managed to hold firm and see out the win.
A last-gasp winner saw Wapping ladies slip to a 3-2 defeat at Broxbourne.
Trailing 1-0 at half-time, Wapping conceded a second after the break before staging a dramatic comeback which looked to have set them on their way to a draw.
However two penalty corners within five minutes saw Wapping drag themselves level. Louise Song converted both and the visitors appeared to be en route to a share of the spoils.
But with only two minutes remaining, Broxbourne intercepted a pass and clinically grabbed a winner.
