Felix Styles netted a hat-trick as Wapping kept the pressure on leaders Harleston Magpies in the East Men’s Premier ‘A’, trouncing Felixstowe 4-1.
Without several experienced first-team players, Wapping’s backline boasted an average age of just 22, not that it showed as the visitors took an early lead.
A slick passing move saw Wapping pierce through the heart of the Felixstowe defence and, after James Fanger drew the home side’s goalkeeper, he picked out Rory Heaslip to tap home from close range.
Wapping continued to pile forward and were 3-0 up within ten minutes following two powerful drag flicks by Styles from short corners.
Felixstowe coach – former Wales international Bill Williams – opted to limit the damage by putting men behind the ball which stifled Wapping up to a point.
The visitors began the second period by dominating possession but failed to create any clear-cut opportunities as Felixstowe stuck to their damage limitation tactic.
A fourth goal did eventually arrive when Styles completed his hat-trick with a drag flick.
Felixstowe did get one back with virtually the final attack of the game, but it did not stop Wapping racking up their fourth consecutive victory.
