Eton Manor put in a convincing performance against Chingford to hold on to second place in London League One North, winning 24-8 on Saturday.

Tries from Nick Cooper-Hicks, Reece Reed, Michael Eghan and Garth Tucker propelled them to their 18th victory of the season.

However, the narrative of the first half was one of dominance without the cutting edge and it was Chingford who took an early 5-0 lead.

Chingford continued to frustrate their opponents until Cooper-Hicks struck. Manor drove the opposition back with the superiority of their scrum and Cooper-Hicks scored with a pushover try.

Manor had seemingly got back into the game when indiscipline at the ruck gave Chingford a penalty, which they dispatched to take an 8-7 lead going into the second half.

The home side came out with a different mindset and within ten minutes of the restart they were rewarded with a try from Reed, which again came as a result of the pack.

The scrum gave Cooper-Hicks a good platform to start an attack and he fed the ball to Reed, who ran around his marker to score.

Reed then turned creator after picking the ball up on the blindside, drawing his defender, and then passing it out wide for Eghan to stroll over the line.

Manor were not finished and went in search of a bonus-point try, which they got through some excellent work from Tucker.

Kevin Reed initially won the ball from a lineout before feeding it to Chris Jones. He in turn fed the marauding Tucker, who raced towards the posts before wrong-footing a defender to score.

Eton Manor will look to build on this win as they face Romford & Gidea Park, while Chingford face Brentwood this Saturday. Woodford remain bottom after being thrashed by North Walsham 55-0.

In London Three North East, Wanstead beat Old Brentwoods 10-3, while in Essex League One, Epping Upper Clapton won against Maldon 26-7.
