The Borough of Waltham Forest Swimming Club had two members competing at the British Championships at the London Aquatic Centre at the weekend.
Phoebe Griffiths enjoyed a promising start in the 400m freestyle, reaching the age-group final and achieving a personal best time of 4.26, leaving her third for the 14-year-old category. In the 800m Griffiths finished in 8.53.
Holly Taylor was competing in her first Senior British Championship and achieved a credible 28th place out of 60 in the 50m freestyle.
The Gators were also competing at the Thurrock last-chance regional qualifier gala. Twenty-four children from the club achieved 106 personal bests, taking home four golds, ten silvers and seve bronze medals.
Drew Clark continued his winning form by coming first in the 200m butterfly, 400m individual medley and second in the 400m and 200m freestyle.
The club’s youngest members, Alex Munden and Isabelle Iley, each won silver medals in the 100m individual medley and 200m backstroke events respectively.
