Orion Harriers' Megan Penfold has moved up to fourth in the UK pentathlon rankings after finishing second at the Essex Schools Under-15 Pentathlon at Brentwood.
Penfold scored a personal best points total of 2921 and also racked up three further PBs in the 75m hurdles (12.1), high jump (1.58m) and long jump (5.08m).
In the shot put, the 13-year-old managed a distance of 8.29m and in the 800m, clocked a time of 2.42. The winner scored just 13 points more.
Penfold also placed third at the Essex County Pentathlon with a total of 2748 points earlier this month.
At the Essex County Championships she claimed gold in the high jump with 1.50m and placed fourth in the long jump with 4.96m.
Fellow Orion member Isobel Mills placed second in the Essex Schools Pentathlon long jump by posting a distance of 5.13m.
At the Essex County Championships Mills won bronze in the 300m hurdles with a best time of 48.75 seconds.
Becky Richards also competed this weekend in the Under-13 girls 70m hurdles and won bronze in 12.01, her previous best was 12.9.
