Premier Division
Buckhurst Hill started the 50th season of the Prokit UK Essex Olympian League by serving up a ten-goal thriller against White Ensign.
The game finished tied at 5-5, with Gary Ticehurst (2), Darren Burrell, Yaw Danso and Lee Delf on target for visiting Ensign.
Newbury Forest made a far-from-ideal start to the season, going down 5-2 at home to Bishop’s Stortford Swifts.
Scott Emmons netted a brace for Forest but defensive vulnerabilities meant the hosts ended the opening weekend well beaten.
Division One
Ongar Town were beaten 2-1 by Old Chelmsfordians in their curtain raiser with goals from Lee Ifield and Robert King sending Town to defeat.
