Witham 13
Loughton 20
(Essex Two)

LOUGHTON secured their first league points this season.

From virtually the first play of the game the visitors' Matt Burgess burst through the Witham midfield and slipped a delicious pass for Amari to touch down under the posts.

Owen Sayers missed the conversion and Loughton found themselves pegged back, when a mistake by Jeff Estall let the hosts in for an unconverted try.

Despite their significant advantage in both territory and possession for the remainder of the half, the visitors only reward was a Sayers penalty that saw the sides turn around at 5-8.

Witham took the upper hand after the restart and a second unconverted try and a penalty saw them take a 13-8 lead.

Loughton dug deep and Sayers levelled the scores once again with a fine individual try.

A good break from Matt Burgess, coupled with some swift play by skipper Duncan Kaye and Sayers, put Estall in for a fine try that Sayers converted to give a final score of 13-20.
