ARSENAL look set to have lost out on another major midfield target, with Manchester City's Michael Johnson set to sign a new deal at Eastlands.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the 20-year-old, who has proved an instant Premier League hit.
But any thoughts Arsene Wenger had of bringing him to the Emirates before the transfer window shuts on Monday, look dead in the water.
That is because City boss Mark Hughes has persuaded him to agree a £45,000-a- week double-your-wages deal.
A happy Hughes said: “It is just a case of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts on that now.”
