MANCHESTER CITY look set to steal a march on city rivals United in the race to sign Dimitar Berbatov after their £30million bid for the striker was reportedly accepted by Spurs.

The Red Devils have long courted the Bulgarian and have been favourites to land him all summer.

However, City - backed by the money of new owners Abu Dhabi United Group - have jumped in to try and steal the player from under the noses of their bitter rivals.

It remains to be seen whether Berbatov would move to the City of Manchester Stadium or hold out for the Old Trafford outfit to come in with a matching offer.

Some reports are suggesting the Premier League champions have repsonded to City's move by offering £20million plus highly-rated youngster Frazier Campbell.
