DIMITAR Berbatov is believed be holding talks with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about a possible move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been favourites to land the Spurs striker all summer.
However, reports have surfaced today suggesting that Manchester City are set to steal in front of their bitter rivals having had their own £30million-plus offer accepted for the Bulgarian.
City boss Mark Hughes told Sky Sports News that he hopes to meet Berbatov later in the day.
But Ferguson is already to be in talks with the forward at the club's Carrington training ground.
Yet another twist in the race for the player's signature could be the late emergence of Real Madrid.
Reports from Spain are suggesting that the La Liga champions are lining up a £36.5million bid of their own for the sought-after forward.
