ARSENAL reportedly made a last-ditch bid to buy Ajax superstar Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Gunners failed to bring in any new names prior to the transfer window closing at midnight on Monday.
But it seems that it was not for the want of trying, with speculation the Emirates outfit made a bold attempt to lure the Dutchman to north London.
Ajax technical director Danny Blind revealed that the club did receive several "mega offers" - believed to be from Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham - for the exciting forward.
But the Eredivisie outfit never contemplated letting their captain go according to Blind, despite bids of up to £30milion being tabled for the 25-year-old.
"It was our policy to do everything we could to keep Klaas here at the club," said Blind.
"We got some offers but we didn't want to sell a player of his calibre just like that."
