TOTTENHAM reportedly made a last-ditch bid to sign Ajax superstar Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The Lilywhites are believed to be one of three clubs - Manchester United and Arsenal the others -to have made a bold attempt to lure the the Dutchman before the transfer window closing at midnight on Monday.

Ajax technical director Danny Blind revealed that the club did receive several "mega offers" for the exciting forward.

But the Eredivisie outfit never contemplated letting their captain go according to Blind, despite bids of up to £30milion being tabled for the 25-year-old.

"It was our policy to do everything we could to keep Klaas here at the club," said Blind.

"We got some offers but we didn't want to sell a player of his calibre just like that."
