Newbury Forest claimed their second Essex Premier Cup in three seasons by beating Kelvedon Hatch 3-1 at Thurrock's Ship Lane Stadium on Wednesday.
Kelvedon nearly opened the scoring after four minutes when Jon Galligan burst into the penalty area and tested Newbury goalkeeper Mark Parker.
Toch Singh was next to try his luck for Kelvedon, blazing over after being released by Jason Reynold-Blanche.
Bradley Gates tried his luck for Forest before Lee Cody headed wide for Kelvedon.
Kelvedon did take the lead after 31 minutes, Cody starting and finishing the move, connecting with Chris Muir's cross to open the scoring.
Newbury Forest almost equalised from the re-start, Reynolds-Blanche drilling over the bar.
A Kelvedon corner led to Newbury's equaliser, Singh bursting into the penalty area and picking out Danny Kenny to finish.
Muir went close against for Kelvedon after the break, sending a well-struck volley wide of the post.
Only a last-ditch tackle from Andrew Lane halted a mazy Muir dribble after the forward had beaten three Newbury defenders.
Parker denied Muir an audacious chip shortly after as Kelvedon continued to pile on the press.
With only three minutes remaining before extra-time, Forest break again to deadly effect.
A Kelvedon corner was punched away by Parker and Lane tore down the left before thumping home from 35 yards.
Deep into injury time Newbury grabbed a decisive third when substitute Freddie Anderson collected the ball and drilled low past Kelvedon keeper Michael Wakefield from 20 yards.
