BEATING Sheffield United last Saturday with the new chairman in the stands and the fantastic buzz around the ground was great, so to go and lose at Everton when we didn't deserve to was very disappointing. We dominated the game and came off thinking, how did we lose?'. But we didn't finish our chances.

We need to get more goals up front, but it is not just down to the strikers.

The whole team is in this together and as a defender, I get upset when we don't keep cleansheets. It is something that we are working on and the new reserve team coach Steve Brown is a defender, so he is coaching us and it's really helping me.

Speaking of new men, it was very interesting to meet the new chairman, Eggert Magnusson, this week. He's definitely alright. It seems like he wants to push us in the right direction.

He said the club is a sleeping giant and he wants to take it on to bigger and better things.

That's so encouraging for young players like myself and Nigel Reo-Coker.

Every one of us has got ambitions and to hear that he wants to take West Ham on to the next level is very exciting.

Of course how he does that is down to him and the manager, and at the moment it is important for us to concentrate on the games.

The Everton result was disappointing, but fortunately there is always another game round the corner. The Wigan match was always a big one. It is so important to win our home games and then we have to go to Bolton.

It is always a hard game at the Reebok Stadium, but we have acquitted ourselves well every time and this week should be no exception. We want to do our best.
