Derby 0
West Ham 5

(Barclays Premier)

WEST Ham recorded their biggest ever away win in the Premier League as they thrashed relegation-bound Derby.

Lee Bowyer grabbed a brace to steal the show, with Matthew Etherington, an Eddie Lewis own goal and Nobby Solano adding to the tally.

In a drab first half devoid of any real quality - save Solano's exquisite 20-yard free kick that struck the crossbar - Bowyer opened the scoring just before half time.

The midfielder made the kind of trademark burst into the opponents box that made him such a hit in his time at Leeds, before chesting down Carlton Cole's deft header and firing past Stephen Bywater in the Derby goal.

After the break the Hammers went on the goal rampage, notching four in a 17-minute spell. That was all after Luis Boa Morte had forced Bywater into a neat stop and Matthew Upson again rattled the crossbar with a well-timed half volley from Solano's corner.

Etherington made the game safe on 51 minutes, playing a neat one-two with Bowyer before firing home. And, from another Solano corner, the ball eventually fell to Jonathan Spector, whose shot squirmed through the legs of Lewis on the Derby goalline, taking a heavy touch from the winger before crossing the line.

Bowyer surged through unmarked to bang in number four from Cole's precise cross soon after.

And Solano wrapped up the rout with a superb free kick into the far top corner to cap an effective team - and personal - display.
