SUNDERLAND have renewed their interest in West Ham defender George McCartney - just days after landing Anton Ferdinand from the Irons.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane doesn't look like letting up on his summer spending spree and wants to add a left back to his squad.

Manchester City's Michael Ball is another target.

Former Manchester United midfielder Keane has already snapped up eight major signings, including the purchase of 23-year-old defender Ferdinand for £8million on Wednesday.

Now McCartney has come back on his radar.

The Wearsiders previously had a £4.5million bid rejected for the Northern Ireland international, with the player indicating that his future lies with the east Londoners.

But Keane is expected to make one last effort to land the 27-year-old before the transfer window closes on Monday night.
