A man is dead after a house fire in Chingford.
Police were called at around 10am today (February 12) to reports of a blaze at a home in South Avenue.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been told.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) added that most of the ground floor of the semi-detached home was damaged in the blaze.
"Sadly, a man has died," an LFB spokesperson confirmed.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was also called at 9.58am today, and sent an ambulance crew and members of its hazardous response team.
Despite their best efforts, the man could not be saved.
The LFB was called just six minutes before LAS, and the incident was over for firefighters by 11.07am.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Chingford, Woodford, Enfield and Walthamstow fire stations attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, LFB added, and police enquiries continue.
